  • Learn More About FSA & HSA Spending on Eligible Products

What are Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs)?

FSAs are employee benefit plans offered by some employers in the United States that allow an eligible employee to set aside pretax dollars from their paycheck into a special account that is to be used to pay for eligible health-related expenses. Most FSA dollars are "Use It or Lose It," which means that you have until the end of your benefits period to spend all of your FSA dollars or they are forfeited. Always check the specifics of your plan because some FSA plans allow a grace period through the beginning of the new plan year for you to spend your FSA dollars, and others allow a portion of your FSA contributions to roll over into the next plan year.

  • What are Health Savings Accounts (HSAs)?

HSAs are employee benefit plans offered by some employers in the United States that allow an eligible employee to set aside pretax dollars from their paycheck into a special account that is to be used to pay for eligible health-related expenses. HSAs do not expire at the end of the benefit period.

  • What items are eligible?

Many FSA- and HSA-eligible items are available to buy online. Please check with your plan administrator to verify that items designated as FSA- and HSA-eligible are also eligible for reimbursement. For background on qualifying health care products and FSAs and HSAs in general, please visit Publication 969 of the IRS here.

  • How do I pay for my FSA/HSA products?

At the present time, Shaklee does not accept FSA or HSA debit cards as a form of payment. Please use a credit card or debit card to purchase products on Shaklee.com, and then submit the receipt and any other required documentation to your benefits provider to make a claim for reimbursement. Check with your provider to understand the information that is required for your claim. For most providers, the information you need to submit your claim is included in your order confirmation email. You can always sign in to your account to find your receipt to submit for reimbursement.

  • What happens if I need to make a return on an FSA-/HSA-eligible item?

If you have filed for reimbursement for a purchase of an FSA-/HSA-eligible product, you will need to partner with your benefits provider to determine if there are any special actions needed should you return that product.
