Peter V. Sacks, M.D. presently heads up International and Special Services in the Division of Internal Medicine at Scripps Clinic in La Jolla, California, where he has been on staff since 1974. He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Hematology, and is board-eligible in Oncology. Although Dr. Sacks has researched iron nutrition and worked in clinical hematology and oncology for many years, he has since redirected his interests to preventive medicine with a special interest in nutrition and weight control. During the past 15 years, he has practiced general internal medicine with patients who have complicated diagnostic and therapeutic problems as well as conducted evaluations of patients from other states and abroad.
Dr. Sacks has written more than 25 scientific and clinical papers in peer-reviewed journals. He maintains a keen interest in all aspects of nutrition and preventive medicine. He is a recognized expert in the field of native South African plants, especially the proteas, the largest floral family on earth, known for their myriad forms and sizes.
