Tree Planting

450 trees have been planted to grow free and thrive in the state of Oklahoma.

With 400 Loblolly Pines donated from The Forest Regeneration Center and 50 more trees purchased with contributions collected at the Gold Dome on Earth Day, Director Gerri Joachims and Associate Lisa Crawford shared the trees with the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ). The DEQ used these trees as prizes for their Clean-Up-Your-Files Day contest. The winners were thrilled to be able to give something back to the Earth by planting the trees.

On Earth Day, Gerri and Lisa participated in a celebration at the Gold Dome, sponsored by their local Sierra Club. Gerri and Lisa stated that it was a great opportunity to launch the campaign, A Million Trees. A Million DreamsTM. They shared the difference that Shaklee products and philosophy can make every day with people around the world. Their T-shirts with the A Million Trees. A Million Dreams. logo were a big hit and so were the Basic-H® samples they distributed to attendees. Gerri and Lisa are looking forward to sharing all Shaklee products with those who requested further information.

At an Earth Day tree planting ceremony in Elizabeth City, NC on Saturday, May 6, Robin Forbes, Director, NC, Beverly Willingham, NC, Coordinator and founder of EDEN (an international organization that supports the protection of the environment) and Gwen Bell, Coordinator, NC, showed the local population how it's done by planting a tree at Waterfront Park. Contributions from Shaklee in the Albemarle purchased the large Crape Myrtle tree and donated it to Elizabeth City. The local Director of the Parks and Recreation Department, who provided the planting space, assured that his team would continue to care for the tree. An article announcing the tree planting ceremony was printed in two local papers prior to the event which was very well attended including the Shaklee trio's upline Key Coordinator, Ann Westergaard.

During the regular meeting of the Dallas North City Network on May 15th, ten attendees were given Red Oak trees to take home and plant. The trees were provided by the City of Garland, TX as part of their annual Arbor Day celebration. At the end of the Arbor Day event, twenty Red Oaks trees remained and Texas Key Coordinators Jude & Jack Peskuski requested them. The Peskuskis found homes for some of the trees and brought the remainder to the Dallas North City Network meeting for distribution. This generated a great deal of excitement - everyone wanted a tree and ten lucky individuals were able to take one home to plant in the location of their choice.
