Shaklee Corporation Recognized at the 8th Annual Global Green USA Designing a Sustainable and Secure World Awards

Roger and Sloan Barnett Awarded the Organizational Design Award

New York, NY (January 7, 2008) – Shaklee Corporation was awarded the Organizational Design Award at the Global Green USA 8th Annual Designing a Sustainable and Secure World Awards event in New York on Monday, December 3rd. Created in 2000, these awards embody the environmental spirit and vision of Mikhail S. Gorbachev and Global Green USA and honor leading environmental innovators for their extraordinary contributions.

Every year, Global Green USA awards the Organizational Design Award to companies that have created a unique design or model to their businesses and display actions or commitment to promote positive environmental changes. Though the award is typically awarded to non-profit organizations, Shaklee was given the award as a result of its dedication to empower individuals to take actions that make their lives healthier and the planet healthier as well.

For more than 50 years, Shaklee has quietly led the way in environmental leadership. In 1960, Shaklee created one of the world’s first nontoxic, biodegradable cleaners. It was used onboard Jacques Cousteau’s research vessels in the eighties, and was one of the first official Earth Day products in 1990. In 2000, Shaklee became the first company in the world to be Climate Neutral™ certified to totally offset its CO2 emissions, resulting in a net-zero impact on the environment. And in 2007, dozens of environmental innovations, achievements and awards later, Shaklee became the first consumer products company to offset 100% of its CO2 emissions through the EPA Climate Leaders program and use 100% Green Power.

"We are so proud to accept this honor from Global Green USA on behalf of our vast network of 750,000 ambassadors that share the message of health with every life that they touch," said Roger Barnett, Chairman and CEO, Shaklee Corporation. "At Shaklee, we believe that our business model is the most effective way to educate millions of people and empower them to live a healthier, greener life."

Friend and partner  Dr. Wangari Maatthai, the first environmental Nobel Peace Laureate 2004, presented the Organizational Design Award to Roger and his wife Sloan for their work in pioneering green initiatives before it was mainstream.

Other honorees included Albanese Organization, Inc., Discovery Communications, Pratt Industries, Inc. and Scott Seydel, President of EvCo.
