Pleasanton, CA (April 26, 2006) – On April 25 Shaklee Corporation welcomed 2004 Nobel Peace laureate Wangari Maathai to its corporate headquarters in Pleasanton, CA for a special tree planting ceremony to celebrate Shaklee's global environmental initiative, "A Million Trees. A Million Dreams.™". Roger Barnett, Chairman and CEO of Shaklee, thanked Dr. Wangari Maathai for her groundbreaking work with the Green Belt Movement and for providing the inspiration for the environmental campaign. Barnett also presented Dr. Wangari Maathai with a check for $100,000 to plant one million trees in Kenya through the Green Belt Movement.

Roger Barnett and Dr. Wangari Maathai April 25, 2006 - Tree Planting Attendees of the event included Dr. Wangari Maathai, Mayor Jennifer Hosterman, mayor of Pleasanton, Roger Barnett, Jerry Thorne, City Council Member, Tom O'Malley, President of the Business Council, and David Rice, President of the Tri-Valley Foundation. On April 21 Shaklee kicked off its global environmental campaign to raise awareness of global warming, "A Million Trees. A Million Dreams.™", with a tree planting event in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park. Working in tandem with San Francisco Mayor, Gavin Newsom, and San Francisco's Recreation and Parks Department, 150 Shaklee employees planted 225 Monterey Cypress and Pittosporum five gallon trees in Marx Meadow of Golden Gate Park. On April 22, Earth Day 2006, Shaklee Distributors across the United States and Canada organized tree planting events in their local communities, a great contribution toward accomplishing Shaklee's goal of planting one million trees.
